Join Lt. Ellen Ripley as she explores the Fiorina 161 prison colony in this six-stage action game with multiple level objectives. You'll have three weapons at your disposal in your effort to rid the colony of aliens: a pulse rifle, a flame-thrower, and a grenade launcher.

A motion tracker will help warn you of impending doom as you make your way through the maze-like air shafts and gloomy cell blocks. Access various computer terminals to receive level blueprints and select your assignments, which range from sealing off doors to rescuing cocooned prisoners. A password system allows you to continue your adventure until the final showdown with the Alien Queen herself.

Rather than sticking with the movie storyline and making more of an interactive story, Acclaim and LJN decided to make an action/adventure title instead, and good thing they did. It has a few flaws, but they can be overlooked easily enough by the average gamer. The graphics are somewhat above average for the original gameboy. A3 did NOT stick to the movie, but it at least does an average job of explaining why there are numerous aliens to deal with. Controls are VERY good, which is not very often in my experiences with original game boy games. Very responsive, with no lag between actions.

The proper game to the movie. Shoot and climb your way through a space station. As you progress with the game, you'll have to rescue prisoners which are imprisoned by the famous aliens. It's a valuable plattformer with a high difficulty rating. Another markable thing is the soundtrack, which is totally unusual for the alien series. It isn't the ambient styled chiptune, that you're used to, when playing titles of this series. Instead it is a nice done and quite fast action soundtrack.

Alien 3 is loosely based on the movie of the same name. Players take on the role of Ripley and must work their way through a series of expansive and multi-layered levels freeing humans that the Aliens have captured. There is a time limit on each level; if players cannot find and free all the humans before the limit ends, the game is over. Since humans can be trapped in a variety of places on each level, players must thoroughly explore the stages in order to advance.

Players can acquire and use several different types of weapons after finding their ammunition pick-up. Ripley can carry multiple weapons at the same time, but each weapon has a limited ammunition supply. Ripley also has a health gauge that decreases as the Aliens attack or after landing from a long fall. If Ripley's health gauge reaches zero, players lose a life. Finding and collecting the appropriate power-up can replenish the life gauge.

In addition to jumping and shooting, players can use lifts, open doors, climb ladders and even crawl through tunnels in the levels. Players can shoot while crawling, but cannot shoot while jumping. It is possible to shoot vertically or even diagonally while standing, however. Aliens are much faster than Ripley and generally cannot be avoided, so they must be shot. Each creature takes several shots from the standard gun to dispatch, but unlike their movie cousins, do not leave an acid pool when killed.

As with the Mega Drive and Game Gear versions, this is brilliant. Guide Ripley through the treacherous space-ship in a stunning platform adventure. Loads to do and powerups galore make it a winner.

Something has gone terribly wrong on the Suliaco's return trip back to Earth. Flight Officer Ellen Ripley finds herself alone on a prison planet, the sole survivor of her ship's unexpected destruction. Unknown to her and the inmates, she has brought an unwelcome visitor with her - an old and deadly acquaitence that could mean death for them all. Loosely based on the live-action sci-fi film starring Sigourney Weaver.

I usually don't like movie translation games, but this one's quite good. Good graphics and you get to be Ripley too.

It is the year 2015. A space faring terrorist group known as Scarlet has become strong enough to seal the space lanes around Earth. A sudden, desperate attack planned in secret wounds Scarlet's leader Epsilon, causing a power struggle among the terrorists and giving humanity time to regroup and fight back. Two old foes among the genetically-engineered terrorists now vie for control of the organization, the outcome of which could determine the fate of mankind.

From the makers of the legendary Gunstar Heroes, this platform shoot 'em up is reminiscent of Contra but with more options. Loud graphics and louder audio, looks cool and plays pretty decently.

Say hello to one of the best alien themed shooters you'll ever have played. Even though the bosses can give you a really hard time in some stages, this game has a high addictive rate. Just run around in the space station and shoot all that moves. While gunning your way through the nice levels (don't search door openers...just shoot them) you have to rescue the human prisoners, that are standing in several corners. The bird-view and the map are making the game really comfortable to play, since you don't have to guess your way every time a path crosses.

You must save your friend as well as your village in 6 stages of animals.

The game plays like this; you take control of a girl who can either run or jump. She's moving at this insane rate of speed away from the screen in 2D. You have to dodge trees and other pitfalls if you decide to run, and if you take to the air, you have to keep away from bouncing, giant animals.

The game takes place in the future, during a time when Earth's fossil fuels have begun to dwindle. There is a massive war taking place all over the earth for control of these resources, as well as for territorial rights on the moon. The two warring governments, the Axis and Federation, have the ability to go into space and create giant space stations and weapons of mass destruction.

Jake is the game's protagonist. He is a soldier drafted into the Pacific States' Marine Corp and pilots a Federation Assault Suit. The Suit has a humanoid shape, with arms, legs, torso, and head. It is equipped with a variety of weapons and other special accessories, giving it full land and minor air capabilities.

Jake and his platoon are tasked with destruction of Bildvorg, the most powerful mech of the Axis forces. The various missions in the game lead up to the completion of this objective.

Story:
The player takes the role of Chelnov, a coal miner who miraculously survives the malfunction and explosion of a nuclear power plant. Chelnov's body gains superhuman abilities due to the massive amount of radiation given off by the explosion, and a secret organization seeks to harness those abilities for its own evil purposes. Chelnov must battle and defeat the secret organization using his newfound abilities.

Gameplay:
The player controls Chelnov's movements with the 8-way joystick, and the 3 buttons to attack, jump, or turn around. Six types of weapons can be obtained during the game, and collecting power-ups can improve Chelnov's attack power, rapid-firing capability, attack range, or jumping height.

The game is a forced side-scrolling game where the screen continually scrolls to the right at a constant speed. Chelnov will continue to run with the screen even if the player lets go of the joystick. Though the player can move to the left or right of the scrolling screen by entering the corresponding direction on the joystick, it is impossible to stop or move backwards (Chelnov can turn backwards while jumping).

Battle Kid is very similar to "I Wanna Be the Guy", an indie freeware game for the PC, in terms of the design of the main character and the projectile weapon he possesses, the trial-and-error difficulty, and instant death mechanics of all enemies and hazards. However, the similarities end here as the actual gameplay and control is much more in the likeness of Mega Man games.
